Black Mulch
Generally the most common ground covering in the garden. Used to prevent moisture loss and slow weed growth. Application should be at least 50mm to be effective. Looks lovely and enhances plants apperance. Downside is annual need for re-application.
Wood Chip
Wood Chips are a more expensive but longer lasting alternative to Black Mulches. The red colour makes for an excellent contrast to almost anything, although the colour does fade to a grey/brown which looks acceptable. It should be laid at 50mm thick.
Pine Bark
Pine Bark is an Eco-Friendly mulch. Heavier and longer lasting than Black Mulches. It should be laid at minimum 50mm thick.
Blue Metal/Aggregate
Blue Metal makes for a smart and modern alternative to mulch. Increasing in popularity the grey/blue colour both matches to modern housing colours and contrasts to almost all plants. It needs to be installed on plastic sheet or weed mat. It will almost never need re-application, almost weed free when installed to our specifications. Minimum thickness required will be 50mm.
Rainbow Stone
Makes for a smart long term (almost permanent) soloution to mulch, never needs re-application or turning, almost 100% weed free when installed to our guidelines. A colourful alternative to Blue Metal. Also needs to be laid on plastic sheeting or weed mat. Apply approximatley 50-60mm thick.
Ferrocrete/Fine Crushed Pea Gravel
A fine red stone mixed with clay that when installed is soaked compacted to form an almost bitumen like structure but with quite small red stones on the surface, fantastic as a foot path, driveway, feature or even decorative ‘frame’. Appears like gravel with the strength of bitumen. Fantastic when contrasted with charcoal concrete kerbing or against paving. Minimum thickness is 100mm compacted.
River Stone
Great as a border or feature stone. Must be laid on either weed mat or plastic sheet to prevent loss. Generally used in a water feature, pond or as a garden feature with no or maybe very few plants or trees.
Soil Conditioner
Soil Conditioner is a MUST for all new lawns and gardens! It is full of long term nutrient and vital elements necessary to all plants and lawn. It should be applied at 30-50mm and then combined into the extisting soil BEFORE any new landscaping! The small cost of soil conditioner in the beginning will save hundreds, if not thousands, in future fertilizers and watering.
Crusher or Cracker Dust
Used under Synthetic Turf or can also be used for pathways, must be soaked and compacted to form strength. Applied at 50mm under Synthetic Lawn and 100mm as a Foot Path.
Lawn Sand
Lawn Sand used to top dress existing lawns or as a lower priced alternative to Soil Conditioner, although we do recommend Soil Conditioner rather than Lawn Sand, it is far superior to most existing soils on site.
Crushed Limestone
Used as an additional base for Synthetic Lawn areas where cars are/might drive or park also used as a base for Brick Paving. Can be used as an exposed footpath. Minimum thickness 100mm compacted.
